Les Manufacture
Alain Ducasse

The ingredient, the craft, the taste

The Manufactures adventure began a little over 10 years ago with the opening of the first Manufacture du Chocolat at 40 rue de la Roquette, 75011 Paris. The idea was simple — to bring back the original taste by roasting and making the chocolate in-house, from bean to bar. Since then, three more brands have been launched (la Glace in 2021, le Biscuit in 2022, and le Café in 2024), and more than 30 shops have opened across Paris, Bordeaux, Nice, London, Munich, and Tokyo. The brand has evolved exponentially in a fast-paced and extremely demanding world, so after 10 years, it needed a renewal.

  • I worked on refreshing the branding in 2022, developing a new visual language centred on the hexagon. This shape — a symbol of France — is expressed graphically through a hexagonal stamp for each of the sub-brands, physically through packaging, labels and even in the shape of the products themselves, and also in the art direction of various campaigns.

My involvement with the brand goes beyond design and art direction. I have helped to rationalise labelling and product ranges, I’ve been involved in the development of new collections, and I worked directly with the marketing team and copywriters to ensure all communications follow our guidelines.
