Ways of Being, published by Laurence King, is a collection of quotes based on original interviews and archival material from an extensive roster of renowned artists. The aim of this book is to answer key questions in any artist’s life, such as is art a career? A vocation? Something else?

For this book I worked directly with the senior editor and the production manager to make a text-only mass produced book desirable on bookshelves.
The aim of the design was to create a highly functional book (with feasible yet noticeable specifications), following instruction manual’s codes (A5 format, thumbcuts, infographics, etc.) and feeling different, whilst still being easily produced and translated. To structure the book we have used only two colours —blue and grey— and two typefaces —Unica 77 (for the text) and Banco (for the quotes).
As the book had no images, I wanted to add more graphic content and proposed to create an infographic page at the beginning of each chapter to bring some rhythm. The content of all of the chapter have been created together with the senior editor.
